After completing a Masters degree in Forestry he joined Tilhill Forestry in 2012 as a graduate trainee working in forestry management. He soon moved into the Investment and Property Team where he applies his investment analysis skills in a forestry context.

Peter Chappell

Senior Investment Forester

Peter is a Forest Management Graduate from the University of Aberdeen and in 2004 completed an MSc at Imperial College in Forest Protection and Conservation. He gained Chartered Forester status in 2010.

Peter has hands-on forestry experience as well as impressive academic qualifications. Prior to joining Tilhill Forestry, Peter started his career as a timber harvesting forester in South West Scotland for the Forestry Commission.

He joined Tilhill Forestry in 2007 as a forest manager in South Wales before a spell with UPM in Finland, Tilhill's parent company at the time.

Being based at the busy South Wales District Office helps incorporate into his appraisal work the most up-to-date market subtleties and most relevant forest assessments methods. It also means he can work closely with the forestry and harvesting managers and, in the process, gain the best possible local knowledge of off market opportunities.

David Pelly

David graduated originally in Economics from the University of Aberdeen with a 2.1. In the years following he played a major role in the implementation of practical conservation teams in Iceland and Estonia. On returning to Scotland David became involved with a charity focusing on woodland creation and management within the central belt.

For four years he then worked with a leading forestry agency, assisting with the selling and valuation of commercial and amenity forestry across Scotland. During this time, he studied an MSc in Forestry with Bangor University and graduated in January 2018.

In March 2018 David moved to Tilhill’s Investment and Property Team. Working from the Central Scotland office in Dunblane David applies his agency experience to a sound understanding of economics and forestry to provide investment advice.

David also received a prize for his essay on ‘How can forestry and wood processing help deliver a Green Brexit and a more sustainable society in the UK?’ presented by Forestry Minister David Rutley MP at a Westminster reception organised by Confor for the All Party Parliamentary Group on Forestry.
