Tilhill Forestry Colleagues Recognised for Leadership and Professional Contribution within the Institute of Chartered Foresters

Tilhill Forestry is delighted to announce that Iwan Parry MICFor, Regional Manager for Wales and Marches, has been awarded the Institute of Chartered Foresters President’s Award.

Iwan Parry MICFor, Regional Manager for Wales and Marches at Tilhill Forestry, has been awarded the Institute of Chartered Foresters President’s Award.

The award recognises Iwan’s outstanding and sustained service to the Institute, particularly his long standing leadership of the Wales Member Network and his commitment to strengthening the professional forestry community across Wales.

With more than 25 years’ experience in forestry, Iwan is a highly respected and multi-award-winning forester. Throughout his career, he has managed a diverse forestry portfolio across Wales, from upland conifer plantations and lowland woodlands to new planting schemes for a wide range of clients and land management objectives.

As Chair of the Wales Member Network for more than seven years, Iwan has provided exceptional continuity, energy and values-led leadership. His work has helped create an inclusive, constructive and professionally valuable environment for members, students, colleagues and partners attending Institute events across Wales.

The President’s Award also recognises Iwan’s commitment to continuing professional development, member engagement and supporting the future membership pipeline for the Institute. His contribution has had a lasting impact on professional development and engagement in Wales.

Commenting on the award, Iwan said:

“I’m honoured to receive the Institute of Chartered Foresters President’s Award. The Institute plays such an important role in supporting professionalism, knowledge-sharing and collaboration across our sector, and it has been a privilege to contribute to the Wales Member Network over the past seven years.

Forestry is a long-term profession, and its strength lies in the people who are willing to share experience, support one another and encourage the next generation. I’m very grateful to the colleagues, students, partners and fellow members who have helped make the Wales network such a constructive and welcoming professional community.”

Iwan’s recognition follows further success for Tilhill Forestry within the Institute of Chartered Foresters.

In January, Stephen Campbell, from Tilhill Forestry’s Investment team, was also awarded the Institute’s President’s Award in recognition of his significant contribution as a Trustee.

Since joining the Institute as a Trustee in 2022, Steve has strengthened the Institute’s financial framework through meticulous oversight and strategic leadership. He has guided the Institute through two reviews of its reserves policy, a highly complex VAT review, and led a comprehensive investment review, helping to ensure that the Institute’s financial strategy remains robust, ethical and aligned with long-term sustainability goals.

Beyond finance, Steve has mentored colleagues, championed good governance and reinforced the organisation’s foundations, leaving the Institute in a stronger and more resilient position.

Speaking on his award, Steve said:

“It has been a great honour to serve on the Institute’s Council for the last four years and I was delighted to be presented with the President’s Award. The ICF Council is a great group of people, and the Institute is in a strong position to lead our sector forward.”

Alongside these awards, Tilhill Forestry is also proud to support Luke Cross MICFor, Area Manager for Wales, and James Harrison-Moore, Senior Forest Manager in standing in the upcoming Institute of Chartered Foresters Council ballot.

The ICF Council provides an important platform for members to help shape the future of the profession, supporting professional standards, sector insight and the long-term role of forestry in a more sustainable future.

Luke has over 10 years’ experience in the forestry industry and leads a team of foresters across North Wales and the Marches. He is passionate about the role forestry plays in creating a more sustainable future and is committed to ensuring the sector’s voice is heard.

James brings nearly 19 years’ experience in the forest industry, with strong operational expertise, professional leadership and a particular interest in woodland creation, water quality and sustainable forest management.

Their nominations reflect the depth of practical experience, professional commitment and leadership within Tilhill Forestry, and we wish them both the very best in the ballot.

Together, Iwan, Stephen, Luke and James demonstrate the important role Tilhill Forestry colleagues play not only within the business, but across the wider forestry sector. Their contributions reflect a shared commitment to professional excellence, collaboration, knowledge sharing and long-term stewardship.

Everyone at Tilhill Forestry congratulates Iwan and Stephen on their well deserved recognition, and wishes Luke and James the very best in the upcoming Institute of Chartered Foresters Council ballot.
