Tilhill welcomes Jack Aldred, Harvesting Contracts Manager to the southern England team. 

Why did you choose to pursue a career in the forest industry?

I’ve always worked outside. I started working on a farm when I was younger and I spent most of my free time outdoors mountaineering and mountain biking. It therefore felt only natural to pursue a career where I spend most my time outside. I studied Forest Management at the National School of Forestry for two years which gave me the skills to take me forward into the forest industry as a career.

Why did you choose to work for Tilhill?

Working for Tilhill appealed to me because I felt they were a very forward thinking and innovative company. I knew Tilhill was a well-known name within the sector and I had heard from many people that they were a good company to work for.

Tell us a bit about yourself. What did you do before joining Tilhill? After studying Forestry Management at The National School of Forestry I was a self-employed chainsaw operator and forwarder driver. I worked across Central and Southern England for a variety of contractors.

What skills do you bring to Tilhill’s Harvesting Southern Team?

The forestry environment is a challenging one and I think my time within the industry so far will enable me to bring fresh insight to the Southern team, leading to help maintain safely managed and efficient harvesting sites.

What are you looking forward to most about your role?

I’m looking forward to working in a new environment and developing my knowledge from experienced foresters. I’m excited to be working with our contractors and getting to know all our customers and suppliers. Most importantly, I’m excited to put in the work to help grow Tilhill within the Southern region and watch it thrive.
