The LI Awards host said: “Tilhill are our valued sponsors for the next award–Excellence in Flood and Water Management–which celebrates projects of every size that are on the cutting edge of sustainable water management and are moving design practice in this area forward. Thes eprojects are reducing flood risks and promoting sustainable drainage schemes. This is another area where the work of landscape architects is helping communities to adjust to the realities of our fast-changing climate.

Our judging panel this year felt that one entry really stood out above all others, and because of that they identified it as their single finalist and winner for this category. Please welcome Southern England Regional Manager Julian Ohlsen from Tilhill, who will be making the presentation to the winners.

Julian Ohlsen, Tilhill Regional Manager for Southern England said: “It gives me great pleasure that Tilhill is here today and involved with these awards, as both a practitioner and a member of the Institute of Chartered Foresters. Tilhill has been enhancing the UK landscape since 1948 through sustainable and professional management across every aspect of our business.

Given our status as ‘Woodlands for Water’ advisors, we understand the need for high quality, environmentally beneficial projects which will help to improve water quality and reduce flood risk in key areas. So we are delighted to be announcing the winner for this particular award.

Judges were impressed by the visible difference to the area as a result of this project, and praised the consideration of not only flooding issues, but of the social and economic aspects as well, providing huge benefitsto the surrounding community. Of particular note was its use of space, and the way in which it worked around all of the on-site constraints to achieve success.”
