Tilhill Forestry leads forest visit with International Forestry Students’ Association.

Tilhill Forestry, Wales and Marches Forest Manager Simon Miller led a tour for NERM (Northern European Regional Meeting) to Hafod Boeth Forest with the International Forestry’ Students Association (IFSA), a not for profit organisation that connects forestry students from all over the world via a wide spectrum of activities.

Twenty five IFSA students joined Simon Miller, District Manager David Edwards, forest owner Giles Keating and staff from Snowdonia National Park with help from Tilhill Forestry Supervisor, Lawson Chater.

The tour began with a heritage railway trip to the forest followed by a forest tour and a discussion within the forest exploring topics including commercial conifers for timber, amenity, PAWS restoration, control of invasive species, ground preparation techniques, pests, diseases and diversification. Students were given the opportunity to lay down their own memories of the visit i by planting some trees in the forest.
