Coed Ty Llys occupies a northwest facing steep sided valley that rises from 210 to 450 metres in elevation.
The woodland is composed of approximately 40% larch and 60% mixed deciduous trees. The broadleaves are composed of principally birch, oak, hazel, rowan and sycamore – providing good diversity of tree species. The age of these trees appears to be approximately 25 years.
