Guest Speaker’s Announced for Aberdeen Woodland Investment Seminar

Tilhill Forestry is proud to announce our speakers for the Aberdeen Woodland Investment Seminar taking place on Tuesday 27th August.

Following a successful seminar on June 18th in Cheltenham, this seminar will feature five speakers discussing a range of subjects within forestry and investment.

Speakers include:

Bruce Richardson, Head of Investment and Property, Tilhill Forestry.
Bruce leads the Investment and Property Team and supports both individual and corporate clients with property acquisition, valuation and woodland creation projects.  His team provides a full service, from sourcing suitable properties to developing a detailed assessment of the potential of a property through to aiding the purchase process.

He is a Chartered Forester, holds a Master’s Degree in Forestry from Bangor University and previously held senior posts in the financial services industry and is a qualified banker.

Cassian Battistini, Forest Owner.
Cassian Battistini is the manager of Simpsons Malt’s Grain Trading division and is responsible for its day to day operations and strategic planning. Having previously spent ten years in the metals and mining industry as a commodity trader and market analyst, he has acquired an in depth knowledge of international trading, marketing and logistics as well as business strategy development skills.

Cassian has an academic background in Economics and completed a postgraduate degree in Land Economy from the University of Aberdeen. Keen to reduce his exposure to the financial markets, Cassian has sought to diversify his investment interests in recent years and this played a key part of his initial interest in Forestry sector, which he has been invested in since 2015. Part of his motivation to read the Land Management degree was to gain a greater understanding of Forestry and its wide range of environmental, economic and social benefits. Cassian purchased Balnagaowan Forest in late 2018. The property provided an opportunity to further diversify his Forestry portfolio both geographically and also in terms of species mix since it is composed predominantly of Scots Pine as opposed to the more common Sitka Spruce.

Ruaridh is an experienced Wood Supply Manager at Norbord, a world-leading manufacturer of engineered wood-based panel products.
He has a demonstrated history of working in the forest and waste wood recycling industries. Ruaridh is skilled in negotiations, timber harvesting, board production (OSB, MDF, PB), OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, FSC certification management systems.

Mike Harvey, Director, Maelor Forest Nurseries Ltd.

Calum Murray, Business Development Manager, Tilhill Forestry.

Having joined Tilhill Forestry at the start of 2016 in West Highland District, Calum moved back to the Grampian area in 2018 and it is here that he has spent much of his 20-year career as a Forest Manager. He has a leading role in developing the service that Tilhill Forestry can offer in north east Scotland for existing or new clients with forests in need of expert management, or landowners with exciting new woodland creation projects of any scale. Calum would be delighted to offer professional advice to anyone who is looking to release the full potential of their forest or landholding.

The seminar will consist of a morning of presentations and Q&A’s followed by networking and lunch supplied by Tilhill Forestry.
