Lot 1 comprises the southern part of Tullich Wood. The present crop was established in 1962. There is a small area (0.77ha) of previous rotation Scots pine dating from 1870. Commercial conifer species extend to 56.80ha or thereby and comprise crops dominated by Scots pine with lesser elements of Lodgepole pine, Sitka spruce and Japanese larch.
Lot 2 forms the northern part of Tullich Wood and the western end of The Wilderness and contains crops planted between 1900 and 1985. Lot 2 has a wide variety of mixtures where the crop is dominated by Scots pine as previous thinnings have largely favoured Scots pine as the preferred species in mixtures.
Lot 3 forms the eastern end of The Wilderness. The present crop rotation was planted in 1957, principally with Scots pine with a lesser element of Lodgepole pine. A fire belt of Japanese larch, with a scattering of Scots pine, extends to 2.19ha or thereby. The Scots pine has been thinned in the past.
